41 Random Things To Do Before You Go To Sleep

After a hectic day at work, University or looking after your family, it’s important to cherish those last few hours that you have before you retire for the night.

I’ve come up with a random list of practical things you can do before you say ‘good night’.

It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep –Psalm 127:2

  1. A hot shower
  2. Read or listen to a few pages of your favourite book
  3. Listen to worship music or  anything relaxing
  4. Have a light nutritious meal
  5. Slap on some intensive night time moisturiser
  6. Retwist your braids
  7. Replace your cotton pillows with satin cases
  8. Read a magazine
  9. Read motivational quotes  on Twitter
  10. Go on Pinterest for some inspiration
  11. Pray Psalm 91, Psalm 27 and Psalm 20
  12. Set your alarm for the next day
  13. Put the laundry in the wash (don’t forget to unload!)
  14. Soak your undies
  15. Read an evening devotional. Check out Bible gateway – I love the ‘Encouragement for today’ devotional.
  16. Light a Yankee candle or melt a wax tart
  17. Eat a bar of chocolate and forget the calories, it’s just one night (only once a week!)
  18. Write down 7 things you are thankful for in your Journal
  19. Sing a song of praise to God, even with a croaky voice
  20. Dance in front of your mirror like nobody’s bizness!
  21. Iron your clothes
  22. Lay out the clothing you are going to wear for the next day
  23. Trim your nails
  24. Pluck those awkward nasal hairs. You won’t have time in the morning!
  25. Find a pair of socks and keep them on lockdown. They always have a way of playing hide and seek
  26. Sanitise your contact lenses
  27. 15-Minute Night time house cleaning. Check out ‘How Jen Does It’ Night time routine
  28. Spray some cotton linen spray on your bedsheets
  30. Write your ‘To-do list’ for the following day
  31. Practice saying goodnight in another language
  32. Look at your reflection in the mirror and say ‘goodnight beautiful’
  33. Do the electric slide for no reason
  34. Drink some herbal tea. I love sliced root ginger with freshly squeezed lemon
  35. Take your multivitamins
  36. Wear your favourite PJ’s
  37. Have sex…with your hubbie or wife
  38. Add another image to your vision board
  39. Cross off your final ‘to-do’ on your list
  40. Give your family a lovely jubbly hug
  41. Pat yourself on the back. You’ve come this far
  42. Take your dog for a walk
